“Passed out” or “graduated”? Saying when you finished college
Say “I graduated in 2022” or “I completed my B.Tech in 2022”. In most of the English-speaking world, “I passed out” means “I fainted”.
I passed out from IIT Delhi in 2022.
I graduated from IIT Delhi in 2022.
Why Indian speakers say it
In Indian English, pass out means finishing a course and passing the final exams, and “pass-out year” is common on Indian forms. In American and British English, pass out usually means losing consciousness. British English also uses it for completing military or police training, but not for university. For college and jobs, use graduate.

Questions
Is “pass out” wrong in Indian English?
No. Within India it is widely understood to mean graduating, and you will see it on Indian forms. The problem is international use: abroad it usually means fainting, so for global employers write graduated.
Should I write “graduated” for a diploma too?
Yes, graduate works for degrees and most diplomas. You can also say completed: “I completed my diploma in electrical engineering in 2020.”
